Leadership Academy Pillar: PURPOSEFUL or COLLABORATIVE


This session requires advanced completion of a 30-minute online assessment, the Clifton StrengthsFinder, by all attendees. Thus, registration is due by October 18. Those who have signed up will receive an exclusive access code to allow them to take the Strengths assessment between October 18 and November 1. The actual session on November 5 will then utilize the data from your assessment in helping you understand your strengths as a leader!

This assessment has helped more than 8 million people around the world discover their talents and become better leaders. After you take the Clifton StrengthsFinder, you'll receive a customized report that lists your top five talent themes, along with action items for development and suggestions about how you can use your talents to achieve academic, career, and personal success. In a highly interactive workshop, Shannon Shivers (trained CliftonStrengths Facilitator) will help you understand your strengths and how to utilize this knowledge to maximize your practices as a leader. Attendees can expect to:

Form and maximize your teams.

Help others to affirm, develop, and apply their talents.

Shannon Shivers is an advisor for the University Exploratory Studies Program. Previously, she was a first-year academic advisor within the College of Engineering. With a M.A. in Counseling and specializations in Career Counseling and College Student Services, Shannon has cultivated her passion for helping students identify their abilities and interests. As a trained CliftonStrengths facilitator, she supports students through the process of recognizing and articulating their own unique strengths. This deeper understanding of personal strengths, prepares students to identify and pursue their optimal careers.

Megan Roegner is the Coordinator for the First-Year Experience in University Exploratory Studies Program, and has previously worked as a First Year Advisor for all first-year and exploratory students, a counselor for student-athletes and as a financial aid advisor. In all of these roles helping students identify their strengths and how they can use them to be successful in their first-year of college and beyond has been at the root of her work. She has developed and taught courses on CliftonStrengths and believes that recognizing and using your strengths will unlock your greatest potential, not only academically but also professionally and personally. Understanding your strengths is the key to living your best life!
