What is the Grand Challenges Scholars Program (GCSP)?

The Grand Challenges Scholars Program is a way for students to take their progress in professional, interpersonal, and leadership development in the Leadership Academy to the next level. The National Academy of Engineering created 14 goals required to meet what they believe engineering needs to provide to society in the 21st century. They call for "Continuation of life on the planet, making our world more sustainable, secure, healthy, and joyful." The mission of Oregon State University College of Engineering Grand Challenge Scholars Program is to provide a transformational experience that produces graduates committed to building inclusive and collaborative communities where they lead innovation and drive breakthroughs that improve the world.

Why join the GCSP?

Engineering students who complete the GCSP will achieve the distinction of Grand Challenge Scholar, endorsed by both Oregon State and the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), and will be uniquely prepared to collaborate and succeed in a transdisciplinary and global engineering environment.
