Engineers operate in a framework of regulatory compliance in virtually every aspect of their professional activities. Learning to foresee, understand, and navigate the potential ethical conflicts is important to a successful engineering career. This 2 part workshop series will outline the meaning – and confusion – of ethics.
Attendees of this 2-part workshop series had the chance to first complete the Ethical Lens Inventory (ELITM) to learn about their own ethical lens and the four quadrant ELI model. Then in the subsequent workshop, participants were challenged by an interactive business case study (based on a true story), present their views and worked in groups to determine how they wouldhandle the situation. After the experience, the actual outcome of the real-life version was shared with participants.
