Every student in the Academy is required to complete a minimum of one substantial professional career experience. This experience may be an internship, co-op, or substantial research experience. In addition to actually completing the career experience, students must engage in intentional mental processing of the experience before, during, as well as after the experience has concluded. This is accomplished through the Leadership Portal and aligned with a reading of the student’s choice from the Leadership Library.
Leaders are readers! Thus, students in the Academy will read a minimum of one leadership text in conjunction with the Career Experience. The Leadership Library is a compilation of helpful books identified by the Academy Advisory Board, the Academy Director, as well as current and previous Academy members. While only one reading will be required, students in the Academy will be encouraged to take advantage of as many of these texts as possible.
*Students may also choose to identify texts for the Career Experience reading requirement not currently included in the Leadership Library by submitting a request and receiving pre-approval from the Academy Director.
